Citing higher than normal patient volumes due to an increase in patients with respiratory illnesses like influenza, RSV and COVID-19 in the community, Bayhealth announced Friday that masks will be required for patients and visitors at its hospitals, outpatient locations and Bayhealth Medical Group practices.

“What’s important to know is our commitment to the health of our community is at the center of our decision-making process,” said Bayhealth VP Quality and Medical Affairs John Fink, MD, MSHQS, in a news release.

“As we enter the winter months, we encourage everyone to consider preventive options such as vaccination, masking, and proper hand hygiene and to seek appropriate treatment options such as a visit to your primary care provider, walk-in medical care or virtual urgent care when necessary.”

Bayhealth offers Bayhealth@Home – a virtual urgent care option that provides a board-certified physician on the phone, tablet, or computer. Visit Bayhealth.org/VUC to learn more or download the app on Google Play or the App Store.

Bayhealth encourages the community to visit Bayhealth.org/Visitation for complete details about masking and visitation guidelines before their next appointment.
