CAMBRIDGE – On June 6, at approximately 10:25 a.m., Cambridge Police Department officers received a report of an armed subject wearing a face mask in a vehicle in the 100 block of Cedar Street. Multiple CPD units responded to the area to attempt to locate the suspect and the vehicle.

At approximately 10:47 a.m., officers located the vehicle around Pine and Robbins streets. The vehicle stopped in the 600 block of Robbins Street and the occupant fled into a residence on Robbins Street.

Officers pursued the subject into the home, where the suspect had discarded items prior to jumping out of the second-floor window and fleeing on foot into a wooded area. Multiple officers from the CPD and Maryland State Police converged on the area and set up a perimeter.

A K9 Unit from the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist with an area search. A short time later, the suspect was located by the K9 Unit. He was identified as Tyree Davon Bryant, 32, of Cambridge.

Officers located a loaded Glock 9mm handgun on the driver seat of the vehicle that Bryant fled from. CPD detectives obtained a search and seizure warrant for the residence Bryant had fled into. During a search of the residence, officers located an additional handgun, a Smith and Wesson M&P Shield 9mm, multiple loaded extended capacity magazines for a 9mm handgun, multiple loaded regular capacity magazines for a 9mm handgun, controlled dangerous substances suspected to be cocaine, multiple items of CDS paraphernalia, 9mm ammunition and 45-caliber ammunition.

Officers also recovered a dog that had been reported stolen to CPD. The dog was picked up by the Dorchester County Animal Control to later be returned to its owner.

The Smith and Wesson handgun was reported stolen to the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office from a residence in Hurlock. Bryant was also found to be restricted from possessing firearms or ammunition due to previous felony firearm possession and felony CDS distribution charges.

He was transported to CPD for processing and his initial appearance before a court commissioner where he was later turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections. Bryant was charged with:

  • Regulated firearm illegal possession (two counts)
  • Firearm possession criminal violent / felony conviction (two counts)
  • Loaded handgun in vehicle

  • Fail to obey lawful order
  • Obstructing and hindering
  • Regulated firearm stolen
  • Attempt by driver to elude police by fleeing on foot
