Armed carjacking in Dover under investigation

DOVER — An alleged armed carjacking at Sam's Club on Tuesday is under investigation.

According to Dover police spokesman Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid, officers were called to the store, 1572 N. Dupont Highway, at 7:11 p.m. for a report of a carjacking involving a firearm.

Officers contacted the victim, a 26-year-old Magnolia man, who said that he was approached in the parking lot by two Black males, one of which was armed with a handgun, Cpl. Schmid said.

The suspects demanded the victim's property, including his car keys, and he complied, police said.

One suspect fled in the victim's vehicle, a 2019 Dodge Charger Scat Pack with Delaware license plate 223742, police said. The second suspect left in a white, four-door sedan with window tint, Cpl. Schmid added.

Officers checked the area for the vehicles and the suspects but were unsuccessful.

The first suspect was described as a thin Black male, approximately 5 feet, 6 inches to 5 feet, 7 inches tall and wearing a black ski mask, dark clothing and a white scarf with a plaid design.

The second suspect was described as a thin Black male, approximately 6 feet, 1 inch to 6 feet, 2 inches tall. There was no clothing description reported.
