Delaware Farm Bureau presenting antique tractor pull

Posted

HARRINGTON — The Young Farmers & Ranchers program of the Delaware Farm Bureau will host its 29th annual antique tractor pull July 29 at the Delaware State Fair.

This event will take place in the Quillen Arena and bring tractor enthusiasts together from several states.

Registration begins at 7 a.m., with a drivers’ meeting at 8:30, and the first hook taking place at 9.

Advance registration is available at defb.org. The cost is $20 per hook for all classes, and T-shirts will be available for $25 or $15 for youth sizes.

The antique tractor pull also serves as a fundraiser to support committee activities, like convention attendance and scholarships, which are announced every year during the contest. Last year, the Young Farmers & Ranchers offered $2,000 in funds to students headed into agriculture-related college studies.

The committee also sent members to a national Young Farmers & Ranchers convention in Florida, allowing them to network with fellow farmers and professionals from all over the country, while learning skills.

Nonperishable food items will also be collected during the event and donated to the Food Bank of Delaware.
