MILTON — After recently posting on his Facebook page that he was looking to play a concert in his hometown of Milton, it looks like Jimmie Allen has gotten his wish.

It was announced Monday that Mr. Allen will headline the first Bettie James Fest on Aug. 7 at Milton’s Hudson Fields.

The recently named Academy of Country Music Best New Male Artist of the Year released the EP “Bettie James” in 2020. The seven-track record is named after his late father, James Allen, and his grandmother, Bettie Snead, and features Brad Paisley, the late Charley Pride, Tim McGraw, Darius Rucker, Mickey Guyton, Nelly, Noah Cyrus, The Oak Ridge Boys, Rita Wilson and Tauren Wells.

Joining Mr. Allen for the show will be DJ Jazzy Jeff, who makes his home in Bear these days; Smyrna’s Chuck Wicks; Hero The Band; Neon Union; and country singer/songwriter Chase Martin.

The concert will start at 4 p.m. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at wickedgoodtickets.com.

Mr. Allen last played a show in the area May 19 at the Bottle & Cork in Dewey Beach. All proceeds went to the family of slain Delmar police officer Cpl. Keith Heacook.
