Jazz on the Waterfront in Crisfield set

Posted

Crisfield is again the place for the  fourth annual Jazz on the Waterfront on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the  City Dock. The outdoor festival brings a lineup of contemporary jazz, R&B and blues artists from the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore music scenes to the Eastern Shore for an evening of live music on the Chesapeake Bay.

Headlining the festival is Phillip "Doc" Martin, a Billboard-charting contemporary jazz alto saxophonist from the Washington, D.C. area. Martin has released multiple albums since his 2003 debut Saxappeal, and his 2020 collaboration "Vibin' in Time" reached No. 1 on the Billboard Smooth Jazz chart. He is equally known for his double career as a board-certified dentist by day and touring musician by night.

Bassist Elwood Bishop returns to the waterfront with his ensemble No Byscuyts, delivering a funky blend of jazz, R&B and blues built for both listeners and dancers. Vocalist Karen Linette of Silver Spring, Maryland, brings more than thirty years of performances at venues including Blues Alley, DAR Constitution Hall, the Warner Theatre and the Apollo Theater in New York City, and has performed the National Anthem at the Kennedy Center and for the Washington Wizards and Mystics.

Baltimore guitarist Kevin Jackson, who has performed with Sheila E., Wyclef Jean and Maysa, rounds out the featured artists with a mix of smooth jazz, soulful R&B and original compositions.

Vocalist Vaneisa returns as Mistress of Ceremony.

"Jazz on the Waterfront is about more than great music. It's about bringing people together on the beautiful Crisfield waterfront to experience the warmth, culture and hospitality of our community," said Stan Rayford, co-chair of Jazz on the Waterfront. "Last year, we welcomed more than 300 guests from seven states, and this year we're building on that momentum. We want people to come for the jazz, enjoy the waterfront, discover Crisfield, and leave thinking about coming back."

Tickets are available at CrisfieldJazz.com. General admission is $47 in advance and $50 at the door on the day of the event. Reserved VIP tables for eight are available for $450. For guests who want to make a full evening of it, The Crab Place is offering an All-Jumbo Jazz on the Waterfront crab feast package, priced from $114.99 to $189.99, available at crabandcruise.com.
