Allen McLane interpreter to speak on Dover Green on June 24

DOVER —As part of the Dover Performing Arts Series, Col. Allen McLane will be speaking about his life in Delaware and his remembrances about his time in Dover, on The Green and in the State House.


Historical interpreter Tom Welch will portray McLane whom he has been researching, writing about, and portraying since 2008. His talk will cover some highlights from McLane’s eight years in the Revolutionary War and his recollections of his time in Smyrna, Dover and Wilmington for almost 50 years.


The music performances begin at 7 p.m. The Allen McLane talk will begin at 6:30 pm. and will be immediately followed by a variety group The Honeycombs. The event is free and open to the public. Interested persons are invited to bring their blankets and lawn chairs.
