9/11 memories, military salute take flight at Georgetown event

Retired American Airlines Capt. Thomas Lombardo and his wife, Dee Lombardo, reside in Lewes.

He’s a drummer for a local band, Electric Smoke.

But, 23 years ago, Mr. Lombardo was living the nightmare of 9/11, having lost his best friend, Charles “Chic” Burlingame, captain of American Airlines Flight 77, which was hijacked and flown into the Pentagon.
