LEWES — The 5K and 1 Mile Race for Open Space will be held at 9 a.m. April 20 at George H.P. Smith Park.

Proceeds from the event will go toward purchase of the 29-acre Fourth Street Preserve, a historic property that has remained untouched for the past 354 years.

To sign up for the race, visit Seashorestriders.com

The race will take runners and walkers past the property and conclude with an awards ceremony and celebration at Smith Park. It is being coordinated by Seashore Striders, Greater Lewes Foundation, local businesses and the City of Lewes.

The ceremony will also kick-off a season-long fundraising effort by Lewes businesses to support the Fourth Street Preserve campaign.

The campaign is actively seeking sponsorships to underwrite the race and generate support.   Three levels of $500, $1,000 and $2,500 are available, with a wide range of sponsor benefits.  Major sponsor opportunities for higher amounts are also available, with corresponding benefits.

More information regarding sponsorships can be found at osalewes.org.
