PRINCESS ANNE — Voting continues through March 24 for The Home Depot “Retool Your School” campus improvement grant program.

Last year the University of Maryland Eastern Shore received $40,000 but this year is shooting higher for the maximum of up to $150,000 with a plan to replace locks at residence halls, which is a concern of the students.

Walter Woods, coordinator of outreach and strategic initiatives, encourages everyone and not just the campus community to support this effort by voting for UMES, found in the Cluster II category of the https://retoolyourschool.com/vote website.

“This is where we need our community’s help…to help us win,” he said. “Vote often, just don’t vote once, vote as many times as you can so that we can win and make some much needed changes and improvements to our residence halls.”

The Home Depot launched the Retool Your School program in 2009 to benefit Historically Black Colleges and Universities and has awarded 273 grants worth more than $9.2 million.

In 2013 UMES placed fourth and received $10,000.
