PRINCESS ANNE — It may be across the Bridge but it’s not a bridge too far for University of Maryland Eastern Shore President Heidi Anderson and her leadership team this week as the Maryland General Assembly hits full stride in scrutinizing Governor Wes Moore’s fiscal year 2025 state budget.
After accompanying University System of Maryland Chancellor Jay Perman to hearings last week, Dr. Anderson will be attending multiple hearings this week, including yesterday’s Higher Education Overview hearing before the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Education and Economic Development where Delegate Ghrist called UMES “…a rock star,” for its ability to connect education to careers (occurs at the 1:33:06 point of this Committee stream).
In particular, she will testify on Wednesday before the House Appropriations Committee and Thursday before the Senate Budget and Taxation Committee Education and Economic Development Subcommittee. That testimony will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Room 120 of the House Office Building.
Today, Tuesday, Jan. 30, is the 21st day of the 90-day legislative session. This Friday is the deadline in the Maryland House of Delegates for introducing legislation. Next Monday is the deadline in the Senate.
