Three arrests made after felony shoplifting investigation

LEWES - Three New York residents were arrested on numerous charges following a shoplifting investigation on Sunday morning, Delaware State Police spokesperson Sgt. India Sturgis said.

The arrests of Alexander Boysie, 18, of St. Albans, Justin Ramsaran, 19, of South Richmond Hill, Ronnie Bridgelal, 20, of Brooklyn, came after troopers were called to Lowes at 20364 Plantation Road at approximately 11:37 a.m.

Police were told two men were seen exiting the store with a large quantity of stolen copper wire and getting into a Chrysler 300 with Florida registration. The Chrysler, operated by a third male, fled the area and began traveling northbound on Coastal Highway.

Police said a vehicle pursuit ensued but was terminated for the safety of the public and troopers A short time later, troopers observed that the Chrysler had collided with a guardrail on Coastal Highway just south of Milton-Ellendale Highway. The impact of the collision caused the Chrysler to catch fire. Police said the men apprehended near the Broadkill River.

The three men sustained minor injuries from the collision. They were transported to an area hospital, where they were treated and released.

The men were all charged with shoplifting over $1,500, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, criminal mischief over $5,000, resisting arrest, and second-degree conspiracy. Mr. Ramsaran was additionally charged with traffic violations.

Following arraignment, the men were held at Sussex Correctional Institution on cash bail.
