PRINCESS ANNE — When DG Market opened at 10860 Market Lane in Princess Anne in early January it was one of the locations that helped Dollar General surpass its milestone of opening more than 5,000 stores nationwide that offer fresh produce and a curated assortment of vegetables and fruits, salads and more in addition to grocery, canned, and refrigerated and frozen foods along with staples like milk, eggs, bread and cheese.

With this achievement, the retailer has more individual points of produce distribution than any other U.S. mass retailer or grocer. Its line of foods includes the top 20 items sold in traditional grocery stores and some 80% of the produce categories they cover as well.

“We are constantly looking for ways to better serve our customers and one of our top priorities is to ensure the communities we call home have access to fresh, affordable, and convenient food options,” said Emily Taylor, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer at Dollar General.

“We have exceeded our goal of having 5,000 total stores with fresh produce by January 2024.  We’re proud to leverage our footprint to meet the need for healthy food options in more communities than any other retailer across the U.S.”

To celebrate the opening of this store in Somerset County the developer Oxford Chase Development is holding a ribbon cutting 4 p.m. Monday, March 18.
