CAMBRIDGE - The Packing House renovations are moving along, with construction soon coming to an end and tenants moving in, a statement from developers said last week.
Among the features of the tenant space are:
The Four Eleven Kitchen, which will occupy 9,000 square feet on the first level.
“Four Eleven Kitchen is a barrier-breaking shared use commercial kitchen designed to empower, elevate and establish a thriving food entrepreneur community in Cambridge and the greater Mid-shore region,” the statement said. “Four Eleven Kitchen’s vision is to support the local food economy by providing space that not only welcomes diverse food concepts and entrepreneurs but is easy to work in and provides direct access to fresh local food for the community. The shared kitchen space is designed to meet specific production needs including general use and baking pods, full workstations with hoods, community classroom kitchen with full workstations, and dry, cold and frozen storage.”
The Blue Oyster Environmental/Packing and Distribution Center is creating a new regional processing and packaging center to improve the capacity for at least 20 oyster farmers and others in the oyster industry.
“The new co-op will provide efficiencies for these small companies to clean, package and market their oysters and it will create a new distribution network for their goods to be sold to restaurants, grocery stores, farmers markets and the like,” the statement said. “Through a recently enacted nutrient trading initiative, Blue Oyster Environmental will also assist companies and municipalities in obtaining the necessary credits that offset nitrogen and phosphorous pollution in the Chesapeake Bay.”
The Oyster Shop and Bar, as a complement to the Packing and Distribution Center, the oyster shop and bar will offer fresh oysters for take-out or on site, as well as grilled oyster fare and local beverages.
MERGE will be a flexible, shared-office innovation hub designed for innovators, entrepreneurs and small business owners.
“A delightful resurrection of the old Phillips Packing House, MERGE will be the coolest office space on the Eastern Shore,” the statement said. “MERGE offers private offices and open co-working space rich with shared amenities including conference rooms, kitchen and social gathering areas along with Class A business services. Lively programming offer both business and social networking opportunities within a secure environment with friendly, concierge service. With plenty of parking and access to amazing entertainment spaces, working in MERGE provides members the ability to ‘hang a shingle’ and meet with clients without the high overhead of a traditional office building.”
