Miss Maryland Kayla Willing in final week of Miss America competition

UNCASVILLE, Conn. — As the finals for Miss America near at Mohegan Sun Arena, Somerset County and surrounding residents who want to follow the walk of Miss Maryland 2022 Kayla Willing will be doing so on PageantsLive.com as well as on the Pageants Live app on Roku, Samsung TV and Apple TV.

This is the second year that the Miss America Organization is streaming competition events via the internet rather than on mainstream television as Miss America 2022 Emma Broyles of Alaska will crown her successor on Thursday night, Dec. 15.

Preliminaries and finals can be viewed live at PageantLive.com starting 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12 with the first round of preliminaries and the second round on Tuesday, Dec. 13 also at 7 p.m. Eastern.

A finalist for the Jean Bartel Scholarship for Military Awareness at the Miss America 2023 Competition, the scholarship panel will conduct its interview on Wednesday morning.

ESPN reporter Laura Rutledge is the host for this year's Miss America competition and will be joined by celebrity judges including "Indian Matchmaking" star Aparna Shewakramani, former NBA basketball player Trevor Booker, Trish Regan host of "The Trish Regan Show" podcast, "Home Improvement" actress Debbe Dunning; and Mirai Nagasu, American figure skater and Winter Olympic athlete.

Miss Maryland Kayla Willing, the daughter of Pastor Steve and Crystal Willing of Marion, graduated from Holly Grove Christian School in 2021 and won her very first pageant as Miss Crustacean in 2020.

Now a double major student in Biblical Studies and Communications at Lancaster Bible College she is among the youngest to compete for Miss America and only the second from the Eastern Shore, the first being the late Meta Davis, née Justice, of Crisfield who was Miss Crustacean in 1951 and went on to become Miss Maryland two years later.
