Crisfield High School marching band gets ready for Crab Derby

Posted

The Crisfield High School Pride of Somerset Marching Band under the direction of Heather McHenry stepped off Friday morning to practice for the 76th National Hard Crab Derby parade.

Leaving the school and heading down Potomac Street and turning onto Myrtle Street, they stopped  the corner of Chesapeake Avenue so family and friends could listen and watch the routine, with "Girls Like You" one of the featured arrangements along with "Party Rock Anthem."

From there the group went up Chesapeake Avenue and along Somerset back to the school.

The band is one-third freshmen this year and the drum majors are Abi Wise and Mar’Kiera Green.

The Crab Derby parade starts 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2 and follows the traditional route along West Main from Somerset Avenue, heading to the center of town and the judges' stand.
