DOVER — Delaware State University hosted the FIRST LEGO League state championship March 18. The robotics competition was between 10 teams mostly from Delaware but also from Maryland and Pennsylvania.

The students — in grades 4-8 — competed in presentations that demonstrated core values, robot design and an innovation project.

Held in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Student Center, the participants were judged by how their teams demonstrated FIRST’s core values of discovery, innovation, impact, inclusion, teamwork and fun.

First place went to the Load Robotics team from Chesapeake, Maryland. The second- and third-place awards went to the S2STEM team of Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania, and The Mind MONCS of the First State Robotics Club in Newark, respectively.

FIRST is an international nonprofit that prepares young people ages 4-18 for the future through inclusive, team-based robotics programs in schools or after school.
