LOS ANGELES (AP) — Southern California has stunned No. 2 Ohio State 30-18 for the biggest win of head coach Lincoln Riley’s tenure. Jayden Maiava passed for 222 yards and a touchdown, and King Miller and Waymond Jordan rushed for scores while USC rebounded from a bad loss to unranked Wisconsin last week to beat a top-12 team for the first time in Riley’s half-decade in charge. Freshman sensation Trent Mosley made a 69-yard TD catch on the second play from scrimmage. Buckeyes freshman quarterback Luke Fahey passed for 260 yards in his first career start.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — Backup quarterback Grant Wilson threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Charlie Becker on the first play of overtime, and No. 4 Indiana came up with a stop on Minnesota’s possession to close out a 23-16 victory Saturday. Indiana (8-1, 5-1 Big Ten) needed overtime for the second straight week to avoid a potentially damaging second loss as it tries to defend the national championship. Last week, the Hoosiers beat won 13-6 at Michigan. And this one looked was over when the Golden Gophers (5-3, 3-2) took a 16-13 lead with 19 seconds to go on Luke Drzewiecki’s career long 60-yard field goal. But Charlie Becker’s 33-yard catch set up Paddy McAteer for a career-long 60-yarder to tie it as time expired.
PASADENA, Calif. (AP) — Ty Dieffenbach threw for a touchdown and rushed for another, and UCLA's defense dominated in a 27-0 rout of Nevada. The seventh-ranked Bruins forced three interceptions in the first quarter and another in the game's closing seconds. It's their first shutout win at the Rose Bowl since 2007. UCLA is 8-0 for the first time since 2005. Defensive back Scooter Jackson intercepted Nevada quarterback Luke Duncan on the first play, setting up a field goal. Anthony Woods and Derrick Barksdale also picked off Duncan. He transferred to Nevada from UCLA last December. The Wolf Pack fell to 3-5.
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Chris Lawson scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 25-yard catch-and-run with 1:30 left and Alex McLaughlin returned Anthony Colandrea’s third interception of the game 48 yards for the clinching score as Washington came from behind to beat Nebraska 17-10. The Huskies did little offensively all night until quarterback Demond Williams Jr. replaced Elijah Brown early in the fourth quarter. Williams and Lawson teamed up to convert a fourth-and-18 before the go-ahead touchdown.
PISCATAWAY, N.J (AP) — Michigan’s season-long offensive woes finally eased as freshman quarterback Tommy Carr led the Wolverines to 427 yards of offense in a 28-21 win over Rutgers. It marked the second most yards the Wolverines have accumulated this fall and the most in a conference game. The 28 points are the most Michigan has scored in a Big Ten game this season. Carr, who started his second game for the Wolverines since taking over for Bryce Underwood, was 22 of 27 for 266 yards. He passed for one TD and ran for two, including a 9-yard dash that snapped a 21-21 tie with 4:24 to play. His 15-yard run in the third quarter gave Michigan a 21-13 lead.
IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Hank Brown threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns, and Iowa’s defense shut out No. 25 Wisconsin for the second consecutive year in a 30-0 win. The Hawkeyes (6-2, 3-2 Big Ten), eighth in the nation in scoring defense, posted their third shutout of the season. They held the Badgers (5-3, 3-2) to 235 yards, including 52 rushing yards, in a game reminiscent of last season’s 37-0 victory. Brown completed 20 of 24 passes, throwing a 4-yard touchdown pass to tight end DJ Vonnahme and a 4-yard touchdown pass to Tony Diaz late in the first half to cap a 98-yard drive.
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Dylan Raiola completed 22 of 31 passes for 336 yards and three touchdowns to help Oregon rally to beat No. 20 Northwestern 34-26 on Saturday. Raiola made his second straight start for the Ducks (5-3, 3-2 Big Ten) with Dante Moore ruled out for the season. After Oregon running back Jordon Davison left the game with an injury in the first half, freshman Brandon Smith led the comeback with 82 yards rushing and scored the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter. Aidan Chiles was 22 of 38 for 281 yards and a touchdown for Northwestern (6-2, 3-2). He ran for 93 yards and another TD late in the second quarter, his 10th of the season.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — Indiana quarterback Josh Hoover spent the second half of Saturday’s game against Minnesota watching helplessly from the sideline after taking a big hit on an interception just before halftime. Whether he returns as the starter after next week’s bye may depend on how healthy he is. Hoover has struggled since injuring his right arm two weeks ago against Ohio State. As a result, Indiana had to win back-to-back overtime games — 13-6 at Michigan last week and 23-16 at home against Minnesota on Saturday — to avoid a damaging second loss as they try to repeat as national champions.
