ANNAPOLIS – The Maryland Department of Natural Resources announced this morning that the state experienced an earthquake at 12:51 a.m.

The magnitude of the earthquake was calculated by the United States Geological Survey to be 2.3. The epicenter was calculated to be 2.2 miles west of Rockville and 4 miles south of Gaithersburg, with a preliminary depth of about 9.5 miles.
