DOVER — Now that the Firefly Music Festival is over, Dover turns its attention to this weekend’s Big Barrel Country Music Festival at the Woodlands of Dover International Speedway.
Delaware Department of Transportation officials said Monday that, in coordination with Dover Police and Delaware State Police, they will monitor traffic in and around the Dover vicinity.
Festival traffic from the north will use Del. 1 to Exit 104 onto U.S. 13 southbound to Leipsic Road and follow signs to Daily Festival (Day trippers) parking and Camper/RV check-in.
Traffic from the south will use Del. 1 to Exit 95 to Bay Road onto U.S. 13 to right turn on Leipsic Road and follow signs to Daily Festival parking and Camper/RV check-in.
Check-in for campers and RVs only with reservations begins at noon on Thursday.
Officials say should traffic conditions warrant, Exit 104 from southbound Del. 1 will be closed and traffic will be directed to continue south to Exit 95 to Bay Road on to U.S. 13 to a right turn to Leipsic Road and follow signs to Daily Festival and Camper/RV parking.
Police officers or safety officers might stop traffic in the vicinity of Leipsic Road and Persimmon Tree Lane located near Dover International Speedway. That would be for motorists to facilitate the movement of pedestrians and vehicles going to and from event parking areas and the festival site.
Longer duration closures may occur during peak parking lot loading times each afternoon and especially each night when the festival closes.
