Danny Rocco didn’t really do anything wrong in his five seasons as Delaware football coach.
His teams simply didn’t win enough games. And with the amount of money that the university had invested both in him and the football program, that wasn’t good enough for him to remain head coach. UD athletic director Chris Rawak recently announced that Rocco was being fired with one season left on his contract.
- Haven’t followed them since the Joe Flacco era. Watch them when it is on TV. Evidently, they think they can do better, I’m assuming. Hopefully. — Mark Joseph
- I was turned off by the restrictions, and they took away perks from season ticket-holders. New seats, three strikes. — Kathi Adronene
- Looks like K.C. Keeler is 10-0 again at Sam Houston State. — Bob Hice
- He should replace Penn State’s coach or the Eagles coach. — Edward Shay
- Maybe they should lower their expectations a bit, and things would be a lot smoother. You win some, and you lose some. Their expectations are you have to win every game. That’s not how you play. Delaware is all for high expectations, and that’s not right for anyone. — Jill Frey
Polytech junior becomes an Eagle Scout
A total of only 4% of Boy Scouts of America’s current population of 2.2 million members will ever completely commit themselves to reach the status of Eagle Scout. And when it comes to Black Boy Scouts achieving that milestone, it’s even rarer, as that group has made up only 8.9% of the 2.5 million youth who have earned Eagle Scout since its inception in 1911.
Me’Lik S. Purnell, a 16-year-old from Dover, overcame those long odds, earning Eagle Scout status after he oversaw an ambitious community library project.
