Gov. John Carney released Delaware’s Climate Action Plan on last week, which outlines do-or-die measures the state must implement to avoid a disastrous future due to weather impacts. The document itself lacks concrete instructions, but Shawn Garvin, secretary of the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, said that is because it is meant to be more like a GPS than a road map.
- So they are going to stop development in coastal areas and work to keep farmland intact to help reduce impervious services and reduce flooding? — Kellie O’Neill Michaud
- Yet the state continues to use thousands of diesel buses to move kids around to different schools instead of having schools in walking distance like when I was a kid. — Steve Durnan
- This is all well and good, but if only a few states are contributing to a climate action plan, it will still not be enough. The whole world has to be on-board, or this one small plan from this one small state really won’t make too much of a difference. The flooding will continue. It’s a start, but certainly not enough. — Dee Myers Cunningham
