Just minutes into the Caesar Rodney School District board meeting, yelling broke out after members sought to recess to deal with the audience of largely unmasked individuals. The board called a 20-minute recess to decide how to proceed in compliance with Gov. John Carney’s latest mandate that requires those kindergarten-age and older in K-12 schools and child care centers to wear masks regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status.

Now we want to argue about masks? Why are you arguing dress codes? It’s so terrible for our daughters to show shoulders? Shorts at the knees? Y’all have allowed them to comply with dress codes. How is this different? — Anna Rancher
So what I’m hearing is some parents would rather have kids who are sick/dead/hospitalized/intubated or, at the very least, not allowed an education, than to wear a mask. A mask that millions of people wear all day while at work. Mask too much? Face shield? Don’t like that either. — Donna Heimall
Copied these words from someone else: People who aren’t vaccinated aren’t “refusing.” You can decline without refusing. “Refusing” is a manipulative term loaded with unfair moral pressure. — Angelque Johnson

Funny that we never hear from the anti-ventilator crowd. — Eddie Curley
Yes, we should have the choice, and the board of education is insane to try and make us, as parents, feel as though we don’t. They’re going to have a lot of parents in truancy court this year. Hope they have enough chairs to fit us all because this is insane. This stuff is out of control, and they are acting like there is nothing going on. Cover your darn face up or get vaccinated. — Jessica Middleton
