Speak Up: More responses about that Biden fence

Posted

“A fence around a property is worlds different than a fence around the nation.”

  • Would you leave your house and car, not only unlocked but doors open, to whoever wanted to come in? And when you find someone inside your home, would you just say, “Oh, sure, come on in. You can stay here. I’ll pay for your health care. I’ll pay for your education. I’ll even give you spending money. You don’t have to do anything to contribute”? And would you also say, “Bring your possibly unhealthy, possibly criminal family and friends, too. I’ll pay for them, as well”? No, you probably wouldn’t. So why would we, as a nation, want the same thing? This is why we want closed borders. We don’t let anyone from Canada just wander over the border. They must meet certain requirements to enter this country. Those of us whom you call the “militant right” are not against immigrants. We are opposed to illegal immigrants, just as we are — or at least I am — opposed to any other lawbreakers, American citizen or not. If Biden wants a fence around his home, he is certainly welcome to build one. We just want to have the same opportunity to build around our collective home, i.e., borders around the country. — Cathy Pindzola
  • “The militant right”? Seriously? How much damage has the right done compared to the militant left? How many have attacked Biden, as your ilk has attacked Trump? What has Biden done for the U.S.? He is more concerned about paying illegal invaders than taking care of the American citizens. One year ago, we paid $1.85 at the pump and now? And yes, the mother of four could have moved to South America, but then, there are not freebies. — Alex Fowler
