Speak Up: Biden visits clip wings of flight students

Posted

Four of six aerial practice areas in the skies above Delaware Airpark are closed each time President Joe Biden flies home to Delaware. During those times, fledgling pilots in the Delaware State University Aviation Program, as well as other aviators leaving the airpark’s runway, are restricted to flying no more than 2 miles north of the airport. Aircraft can fly to the southwest of the airport, however, as two practice areas remain open in that area. DSU Aviation Program Chief Flight Instructor John Sherman said the altered flight paths have been a hindrance at times, but their impact hasn’t been overwhelming to this point.

  • Awesome having a president that likes to fly “home” every weekend, isn’t it? — Chris Ostrom
  • Still won’t visit the southern border and neither will Kamala Harris. — Jon Walczak
  • They really got to hurry up with that pad on his property, so he can fly by helicopter. — Jaden Blondin
  • From what I hear, they are taking the state park’s parking lot at the south end of the Gordons Pond Trail to make a helipad for his beach house. — Hilary Ennis
  • I used to fly out of there. Glad to have graduated and moved back to Maryland. — Adrian Bobb
  • Leave him in D.C. — Katie Wood
  • Wait till all the folks who live in Rehoboth that voted for him have to deal with his visits in the summer. — Todd Culotta
