Speak Up: Biden says he stands ‘squarely behind’ Afghanistan decision

Posted

Striking a defiant tone, President Joe Biden said Monday that he stands “squarely behind” his decision to withdraw U.S. forces from Afghanistan, as he acknowledged the “gut-wrenching” images coming out of the country after the swift Taliban takeover of the government.

  • I don’t think anyone is happy about what’s happening. — Dale Bert
  • #Buildingbackbetter with #TeamBiden doesn’t seem to be going well. Unless you are the Taliban, of course. — Jonathan Contant
  • Yeah, I mean, like, look how he cowers to Putin, sucks up to Kim Jong Un like they’re in love and invites the Taliban to Camp David. Oh, wait, that was the former guy. — Gary Greer
  • Maybe if the Defense Department had been more concerned about Afghanistan than woke, the present situation might not be occurring. — Andy Andrew
  • Personally, I’m tired and sick of seeing our troops blown to pieces for a country that refuses to stand up for its own freedom. The most clear and present danger to the USA are homegrown terrorists, who refuse to find common ground on anything. We, as Americans, should be relieved to finally get our troops out of harm’s way. It was never going to be an easy task. — Rick Reed
  • While I agree that Biden made a mistake by not pulling the civilians who helped the U.S. out first, I have to say all of you right-wing Trump supporters, who suddenly care about Muslims, are so full of it. For four years, you were all cheering for the Trump Muslim ban, and now, you’re all concerned for them. — Gary Greer
  • Here we go again, another Benghazi story. Americans left crying out for help, while Hillary and now Joe were and are asleep at the helm. If he were awake and the people that he surrounds himself with were even half-awake, they would have seen what is taking place in Afghanistan coming. They do not belong in office. When Hillary was secretary of state, she slept while our embassy in Benghazi was under attack, and Americans died. Now, we have another secretary of state who also shows total disregard for Americans in Afghanistan. This is a disgrace, and these people are the deplorables. They were voted into office to defend the Constitution and the American people here and abroad. They have done neither. How long will people vote for a party instead of the person? Is the party so important that they would sacrifice their nation, their freedom, their safety, their children’s future and the goodwill of all Americans, as they continue to pit one race against another? The media would have you believe that the Democrat Party is a god and everyone should believe what they say, no matter what. Wake up! — John Gondeck
  • I hope you understand what you got when you voted for Biden. Biden has never been correct on any foreign-policy decision, as stated by former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, who served both Clinton and Bush. — Andy Andrew
