Delaware’s jobless rate saw a small decrease last month but still lags behind the country as a whole, even after the United States witnessed a minor rise in unemployment in April.
According to data released Friday by the Delaware Department of Labor, 6.4% of Delawareans in the labor force were out of work in April, down from 6.5% one month before. Nationally, the jobless rate went from 6% to 6.1%. Delaware has added 44,800 jobs over the past 12 months, though the state still has a way to go before reaching the level it was at prior to COVID-19 and the ensuing lockdown. Of those positions, 17,800 were in leisure and hospitality, while 9,500 were in wholesale and retail trade.
- 1. Vote Republican. 2. Lower corporate tax rate. 3. Attract real corporations that hire people, not the shell companies drug cartels use to launder money. 4. Stop worrying about the racism in “The Cat in the Hat” and protect the working, law-abiding citizens of Wilmington and surrounding areas. Or Plan B: Stay the Democrat course. It’s really working out well for Chicago, Philadelphia, New York and California, after all. — Kelly Lord
- 1. Vote independent. Vote with your heart and not a party system. 2. Lower taxes for citizens and hold businesses accountable with a fair share of taxation. 3. Hold existing businesses accountable for their bad business and management practices. 4. Protect and fund the whole state, not just New Castle County. — Christian Orendorf

- You do know you can vote with your heart and not be a part of a slave system, right? There are some good Democrats and some good Republicans out there. Don’t be a sheep and only vote who a party tells you to. — Christian Orendorf
- Politicians don’t care about people. It’s not their job. One party legislates better in general, and that is why political party matters. The parties are extremely partisan. You can vote for promises of rainbows and $20-an-hour jobs building solar power tractor-trailers that never materialize with Democrats or vote for lower taxes and corporate policies that create jobs and increasing wages, like under Trump. The character of the politician is irrelevant. Joe Biden is much nicer than Trump and probably a better person, but he is running America into the ground. — Kelly Lord
