The following is an open letter to the Delaware congressional delegation
Dear Sens. Carper and Coons, and Rep. Blunt Rochester,
The election is over; We the People have had our say. It is time to think of country first! Time to stop playing Americans against each other. Time to discard partisanship and ideology. Time to stop dragging your feet on the Cabinet nominees, department heads, and staff. As Obama said in 2009, “Elections have consequences.”
There has never been such a thing in America as a national popular vote. The United States is not a democracy. These united states are a federation of sovereign states, and each state’s voting is independent and inviolable. That is one of several reasons the Electoral College exists. So, despite your apprehensions and consternation, Trump’s election was legitimate. Stop acting like spoiled children.
Those of us who are right-of-center (conservative) were just as distressed with Obama’s election in 2008, and even more so with his re-election in 2012. He had his eight years of fundamental transformation, managing America’s fabricated decline with the assistance of the Democratic Party, Hollywood and the media, illegal aliens, the Muslim Brotherhood, and our own indoctrinated students. Both U.S. senators from Delaware, Carper and Coons, gave Obama plenty of latitude, indicating their lack of understanding of what America is really about; free markets, self-governance, and the blessings of liberty. But we didn’t go ballistic, talk presidential impeachment one month in, or try to make America “ungovernable.”
Exacting revenge over a perceived slight when Republicans refused to give a hearing for Supreme Court nominee, Garland, is totally disingenuous. Sen. Chuck Schumer remarked in 2007 that President George W. Bush shouldn’t get to pick any more Supreme Court Justices because Schumer was afraid the bench leaned too far right (closer to the Constitution). Schumer made this remark a whole 19 months before the next president was inaugurated, nearly double the time a vote on Garland was passed on. Schumer even stated that the Senate has not only the right, but the “duty,” to block a lame-duck nominee. Well, Republicans exercised their “duty,” and the lame-duck session ended two months ago.
Garland’s legal qualifications were never in question; his philosophy on abortion and gun control were. Gorsuch has a similar problem. His stance on life, and the right to self-defense, are on trial. Gorsuch will not be acceptable to the left, but it is unlikely they will be able to block him.
The media, a Democratic Party collaborator, obsessed with bringing Trump down, has taken to acting as if blocking a Supreme Court nominee in a lame-duck session is unprecedented and unconstitutional; or that a senator has never publicly stated he would intentionally block a presidential nomination. There were 10 other times Democrats vowed to block Republican court nominees. The sanctimonious and hypocritical Sen. Schumer was involved on several of those occasions; and even then-Sen.Obama made a similar remark before becoming president. Democrat sabotage and manipulation, and the “Resist Trump at all costs” agenda, need to be reined in.
The Democrat vision of collective entitlements and open borders, economic decline and massive debt, corrupt and invasive big government, divisive class warfare, destruction of the family, and disdain for the lessons of Scripture and morality, has been rejected. Democrats have been losing state legislator seats, governorships, the U.S. House in 2010, and the U.S. Senate in 2014; all since late 2009, when Obama’s destructive agenda became obvious. It is time to get back to the Founders’ vision and American values.
Though politically incorrect, Donald Trump is a successful businessman trying to do a thankless and an impossible job. He is already fulfilling his campaign promises, which is why he was elected. He needs our help and our prayers, not ridicule, contempt, and outright lies. America needs to regain its footing and levelheadedness. The world watches with great interest. It is time for the Delaware congressional delegation to remember they are also Americans! May God continue to bless America and all its leaders.
