DOVER — A 30-year-old drug and alcohol counselor was charged with 12 counts of fourth-degree rape after an investigation into alleged sexual encounters with a teenage patient at Crossroads of Delaware treatment facility, police said Monday.

According to the Dover Police Department, Rebecca Adams, of the unit block of Greenway Square, was allegedly involved in ongoing sexual relations with a 16-year-old male during a period between June 1 and Aug. 15.

Alleged incidents occurred “in multiple locations inside and outside of the Dover area during that time span,” Dover PD spokesman Cpl. Mark Hoffman said.

Authorities alleged that some incidents occurred at a Crossroads of Delaware site in Milford, along with Ms. Adams’ home. Police would not disclose how they became aware of allegations.

Police said Crossroads of Delaware had been cooperative with the investigation.

Charges included 12 counts each of fourth-degree rape and sexual abuse of a child by person of trust, two counts of providing alcohol to a minor, and continuous sexual abuse of a child.

Ms. Adams turned herself in to police at an undisclosed date, police said. She was committed to Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Center in New Castle in lieu of $29,200 secured bond, police said.

An attempt to reach Crossroads of Delaware for comment late Monday afternoon were not immediately successful.
