Delaware Junction country music festival on track
DOVER — With the kickoff of the inaugural Delaware Junction country music festival in Harrington less than a week away, excitement is in the air.
“Everything is on schedule and we already have our Live Nation Festival Team on the ground setting up,” said Brian O’Connell, Live Nation’s president of Country Music Touring.
Despite the Delaware State Fair wrapping up only last week, Live Nation didn’t have to wait to get to work as the festival site is in the same location as general parking for the fair.
Two large stages currently are under construction on the grounds; the Main Stage and the Next From Nashville Stage.
Both have a full lineup each of the three days with little overlap so music lovers will have the opportunity to see every artist they want.

(Delaware State News file photo)[/caption] Although the festival grounds are wide open with no trees or natural shade, the Next From Nashville Stage will be under a large tent, giving festival-goers the opportunity to get out of the summer sun.
Also to keep cool, attendees may bring a sealed water bottle or empty bottle to refill for free at water-filling stations at the festival.
“It’s exciting that this new festival is so close,” Mr. O’Connell said. “Until setup begins and the festival is underway, it really only exists as an idea so seeing a new festival come to life is always a great experience.”
Each day, live music will play from around 3 to 10:30 p.m. but gates open at 1 p.m. Parking is available on site for $20 per day.

If you’ve purchased your tickets already, you will be able to trade your paper ticket for a wristband at the gate. Wristbands are valid for all three days and cannot be replaced or exchanged.
The festival runs Aug. 14-16 and three-day passes are available at the festival website or at the on-site box office between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. Passes start at $199 and camping options also are available.
