DOVER — Delaware’s COVID-19 hospitalizations dipped below 140 as the state recorded its largest decrease compared to the day prior in the last 30 days.

The number of individuals hospitalized with the virus fell by 17, down to 139, according to the Delaware Division of Public Health’s daily report on Monday. The report reflects data as of Sunday at 6 p.m.

The mark of 139 is the fewest COVID-19 hospitalizations since there were 138 hospitalized on April 10. Hospitalizations have been over 100 since March 15.

Of those currently hospitalized, 17 cases are considered critical, the DPH said.

New Castle County posted a drop of 21 for hospitalizations as they decreased to 87 — the first time the state’s most populous county has been below 100 since April 16. Kent County and Sussex County each recorded slight increases in hospitalizations as Kent County went up three to 28 and Sussex County moved up by one to 24.

The DPH reported 163 new positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the overall total to 105,067. The seven-day rolling average for new daily cases hit another 30-day low with 227.7 cases per day over the last seven days.

The seven-day rolling average for percentage of positive tests went up a percentage point to 4.9%, still just below the World Health Organization’s recommendation of 5%. The most recent number is as of Friday at 6 p.m. due to a two-day lag to account for the time delay between the date of the test and the date the DPH receives the test result.

No new COVID-19-related deaths were reported by the DPH as that total remained at 1,626. An additional 670 people tested negative for COVID-19, increasing that total number to 593,894.

Delaware has administered 762,869 doses of the COVID-19 vaccines, per data from the state’s immunization information system DelVAX as of Sunday at 11:59 p.m.

A total of 337,932 individuals have been fully vaccinated in Delaware, including 304,306 Delawareans. Non-residents can be vaccinated in Delaware provided they either work in Delaware or receive their health care in the state.

An additional 120,682 total persons are partially vaccinated, including 108,250 Delawareans, meaning they have received their first dose of a two-dose vaccine series and are awaiting their second dose.
