DOVER — Officials from Red Frog Events announced today that the Big Barrel Country Music Festival will return to The Woodlands of Dover International Speedway June 24-26, 2016, the weekend after next year’s Firefly Music Festival, which is set for June 16-19.
Additional information on ticket sales and lineup announcements are still to come.
Red Frog said this year’s inaugural Big Barrel, held June 26-28, drew over 35,000 attendees. Headliners Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert were featured among the more than 40 country music stars, who also included Lynyrd Skynyrd, Merle Haggard and Loretta Lynn.
A limited amount of pre-sale tickets for next year’s fifth annual Firefly went on sale today at noon for $249. That’s $50 more than last year’s pre-sale price. No acts have been announced for the 2016 event.
This year’s Firefly, which attracted 90,000 music lovers to the Woodlands, drew acts such as Paul McCartney, The Killers, Snoop Dogg, Morrissey and Modest Mouse.
The Saturday night headliner Kings of Leon had to be canceled due to stormy weather.
