TidalHealth Nanticoke to host Better Breathers Club

Posted

SEAFORD — TidalHealth Nanticoke will host the Better Breathers Club from 2-3 p.m. Jan. 17 in the Medical Staff Conference Room on the ground floor.

This free support group is open to anyone affected by a chronic lung disease, including relatives and caregivers.

Backed by the American Lung Association, the club offers a venue for participants to learn from speakers and educational materials, socialize with others affected by a chronic lung disease and practice skills to better manage their condition.

Such diseases make it difficult to breathe, and they include chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, bronchitis, cystic and pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, sarcoidosis and lung cancer. In the United States, COPD is the third-leading cause of death, and lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death. Smoking is the primary cause of both.

Registration is required for Better Breathers, and light refreshments will be served. For information or to register, contact Marcy Columna, manager of respiratory care, at 302-629-6611, ext. 2155, or marcy.columna@tidalhealth.org.
