Buff earns Bayhealth DAISY Award

Posted

DOVER — Bayhealth registered nurse Breanna Buff has earned a DAISY Award for her compassionate and reassuring care.

According to Ms. Buff’s nominator, she “showed the most compassion I have ever witnessed in a nurse.”

The DAISY Award is a thank-you to nurses and recognizes those who show compassion and determination through the care they provide.

The honors are given by the DAISY Foundation, formed in 2000 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who wanted to recognize the nurses who cared for him and all the other unsung heroes of the nursing profession.

Delivering a new life is nerve-wracking as it is; delivering a new life for the first time produces even more anxiety. But “Buff actually took the time to introduce herself to us which already made us more at ease and comfortable with her,” the nominator wrote.

“Buff went out of her way to stay with us, explain a variety of things to each of us, helped my newborn latch for the first time, and provided me with a bunch of different tips and techniques. Coming from her experience in the (neonatal intensive care unit), she also provided us with information about newborns in general that we didn’t know prior, which made our transition coming home much smoother.”
