MIDDLETOWN — Two Smyrna residents died in a two-vehicle crash early Sunday, Delaware State Police said.

Authorities said that at approximately 12:30 a.m., a blue 2022 Honda Civic was traveling in the left southbound lane of Dupont Parkway, approaching the intersection with Harris Road. At the same time, a black 2015 Jeep Wrangler was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Dupont Parkway, in the Honda’s path of travel. As a result, the front of the Jeep struck the front of the Honda in the left southbound lane of Dupont Parkway, north of Harris Road, authorities said.

The driver of the Honda, 62-year-old Gopaul Singh, and the Honda’s passenger, 51-year-old Radica Deonarine, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Jeep, a 28-year-old woman from Massey, Maryland, was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for critical injuries.

The roadway was closed for approximately four hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

Investigation continues and police ask anyone who witnessed the collision to contact Master Cpl. J. Forester by calling 302-365-8485. Information may also be provided by sending a private Facebook message to the Delaware State Police or contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
