SMYRNA — Lindsay Powell-Conley hosted some special guests Friday to show off her childhood home and the menu that comes with it.

The host of “America’s Best Restaurants,” Theo Williams, along with videographer Michael Dick, visited the Elizabeth Esther Café for an upcoming episode of the online show.

The appearance was part of a two-week sojourn to 20 establishments, including one in Salisbury, Maryland, also Friday.

Mr. Williams described the Smyrna eatery as “very unique.”

“The fact that it’s owner Lindsay’s childhood home is something that’s very special. I’ve not encountered that just yet,” he said. “I love the Victorian-style house. I’m a history buff myself, so that’s an interesting aspect of the restaurant.”

The two-member crew took video inside the site and sampled three dishes — fettuccine Alfredo with grilled chicken, New York strip steak and Ahi tuna tacos.

The café’s segment could be released in August. Mr. Williams said the date will be announced on the restaurant’s Facebook page, where viewers will also be able to watch the episode.

For her part, Ms. Powell-Conley was more than happy to show the visitors around her place, which was built in 1868.

“I think this is very important,” she said of being part of the show. “There’s so many people who don’t know we’re here that are within driving distance, so getting the word out that we’re here and that we make quality products is a really big deal.

“It’s exciting to get someone to capture all we offer. The environment is huge, so to get that being captured in an 1868 mansion, it’s definitely different than any other restaurant you’re going to eat in.”

In a news release, the owner added, “I think the restaurant is unique because it’s one of the only places, probably in the entire state, that offers a balance of traditional foods, like steaks and crab cakes, but then also a lot of vegetarian, vegan, (and) really healthy Keto-friendly options.”

All the food is from scratch and often organic, she said.

The café is at 47 E. Commerce St. For information, visit Facebook or cobaltmanor.com/eecafe, or call 302-508-5832.
