National Weather Service declares heat advisory Friday

Posted

DOVER — Early Thursday morning, the National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for Kent and Sussex counties on Aug. 2 from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Temperatures are expected to peak within the 102-107 degree range, due to hot temperatures and high humidity.

The weather service advises residents in affected areas drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location, it said.
