Yes2Health, a program of the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, will host multiple sessions this fall, with in-person and virtual options.

Yes2Health is a free 10-week program with classes available in both English and Spanish. Weekly educational programs include fitness, health, and wellness education to help participants live an active and healthy lifestyle.

In-person sessions will feature 30 minutes of education and 30 minutes of walking.

Fall Yes2Health Sessions:

  • Tuesdays 5-5:30 p.m. Zoom (English), Sept. 17-Nov. 19.
  • Tuesdays 10-11 a.m. In-person (Spanish) at Glasgow Regional Park Frazer House in Newark, Sept. 17-Nov. 19.
  • Thursdays 9-10 a.m. In-person (English) at Rehoboth Beach Library, Sept. 19-Nov. 21.
  • DIY Self-Guided, Sept. 17-Nov. 19.

Mignaliz “Nanny” Vega-Morales, bilingual survivorship specialist and Yes2Health facilitator, said, “Being able to facilitate Yes2Health in-person is extremely exciting for me since interacting and exercising together will be motivating for all participants. Yes2Health in-person is a new way to connect with the community and create bonds of trust between participants. I am passionate about serving the Hispanic community and with this program offering them tools to help them take care of their health.”

The Yes2Health Program now offers Yes2Health in the Kitchen. Inspired by Yes2Health nutrition materials, this no-cost, interactive cooking class allows participants to learn a new culinary skill while preparing a healthy recipe. Recipes and a shopping list are provided upon registration.

The instructor, Chef Dee Iraca, is the founder of Eat Well Chef, a registered dietitian nutritionist and a professional chef in North Carolina. She obtained a Culinary Nutrition degree from Johnson & Wales University and completed a dietetic internship at Meredith College. Participants meet virtually on Zoom.

Upcoming classes (all from 5:30-6:45 p.m.):

  • Tuesday, Sept. 17 — Healthier Banana Walnut Muffins + Avocado Baked Eggs
  • Tuesday, Oct. 1 — Vegetarian Soba Noodles with Veggies and Peanut Sauce (optional to add cooked chicken)
  • Tuesday, Oct. 15 — Shrimp Fra Diavola en Papillote
  • Tuesday, Oct. 29 — White Bean Chili and Ground Chicken Chili (recipe by Giada De Laurentiis)
  • Tuesday, Nov. 12 — Asian Stir Fry with Chicken and Vegetables

Active Cooking Series Cookbook Club is a virtual cookbook club offered exclusively to breast cancer survivors as a part of the Yes2Health program. Participants receive a cookbook with recipes to follow and meet once monthly with registered dietician, chef, and breast cancer survivor, Dee Iraca. With her guidance and expertise, participants learn how to create delicious and nutritious meals while meeting fellow breast cancer survivors.
