Two incumbents, one newcomer voted to Middletown council

Posted

MIDDLETOWN — Two Town Council members unofficially retained their seats, and a newcomer was voted in during the municipal election Monday.

Current Councilmen Craig Sherman and Bruce Orr received 383 and 327 votes, respectively, while David W. Thomas earned 369 to earn the positions.

Challenger Jenn Parrish’s bid fell short, with 217 votes.

Results are unofficial and must be certified by Middletown’s election board at the next council meeting Monday.

Ballots were cast from noon to 8 p.m. at Town Hall, and 480 residents participated.

Once newly elected members are sworn in to their two-year terms, Mayor Ken Branner will select the vice mayor, treasurer and secretary.

Council members Aaron Blythe, Drew Chas and James Royston, along with the mayor, are serving terms from 2023-25.
