First State Brewing Co. in Middletown earns award
By MIDDLETOWN — First State Brewing Co. has been voted the Best New Brewery in the U.S., as part of USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.
Twenty nominees were selected by a panel of industry experts and USA Today editors, and voting was open to the public for four weeks.
According to a news release, while First State Brewing has won several local competitions, this is its first recognition at a national level. The establishment previously won Favorite Brewery in the First State Favorites poll in 2021 and 2022, and Best Brewpub and Best Restaurant in the 2022 Best of Delaware contest.
Last month, Next Glass, the parent company of the beer social network Untappd, released a report on the Top 25 Fastest Growing Breweries in the U.S. From 2020-22, First State Brewing saw a 3,191% increase in user check-ins on the app, making it the fastest-growing brewery in the country based on check-in growth percentage, the release reported.
