Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce joins Baybird Orthodontics for a ribbon cutting

SMYRNA – The Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting for Baybird Orthodontics on March 1 at the new location at 100 S. Main St., Suite 310, in Smyrna.

Chamber members and friends joined Dr. Sita Patel and her team to celebrate the opening.

Baybird Orthodontics’ mission is “to bring out people’s true potential and happiness with a smile they love.”

Dr. Patel and her team provide orthodontic treatment and care to patients. Orthodontic services include traditional braces, custom braces, clear aligners, 3D printed braces, early interceptive treatment, and retainers. 3D custom braces are printed for a patient’s exact tooth shape, size, and position.

Dr. Patel will digitally plan the ideal position of each bracket for optimal movement of each tooth. This new practice serves children as young as 7, teens, and adults.

Dr. Patel is a Camden-Wyoming native who is excited to be working again in Central Delaware as she learns more about Smyrna. Despite moving out of state for training, and even spending some time working in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, she always wanted to come back to be near family and serve the community she was so familiar with.

She often says, “I was always that person touting all the great things Delaware has to offer and I’m thrilled to be able to put down roots here and watch Kent County grow and expand.”

“I never thought that I would open an orthodontic practice but with the support of my family and friends I started taking the first steps towards creating the practice of my dreams. I spent many a night behind a computer learning about how to start a business, what’s involved in getting an orthodontic practice off the ground, and how I would manage all of that with a brand new baby,” Dr. Patel shared.

She has certainly learned a lot through the long year and a half of construction and preparation. Baybird Orthodontics finally opened their doors for a soft opening in January of 2023.

“Although very new, we’re starting to become familiar with the Smyrna community through attending events like Christmas in Smyrna, Smyrna at Night, and events related to Smyrna School District. As we meet more people from the Smyrna and the rest of Kent County, we hope to play a part in supporting local school districts and youth organizations with their endeavors,” said Dr. Patel.
