WASHINGTON — Sen. Tom Carper, D-Del., announced a change to his leadership team Monday, naming a new chief of staff.
Jan Beukelman will begin as in the position after serving as the assistant U.S. trade representative for congressional affairs in the Biden administration.
Previously, Mr. Beukelman served as Sen. Carper’s legislative director after years of working in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Sen. Carper announced the departure of his previous chief of staff, Emily Spain, last month. He said Ms. Spain’s departure is “bittersweet” for “Carpertown” but that Mr. Beukelman’s legislative experience, intellect and compassion make him a well-suited candidate for the job.
