Sussex Tech carpentry and construction students make donation to the Shepherd’s House
GEORGETOWN — Using donated red cedar wood, the Sussex Tech High School Carpentry and Construction students made charcuterie boards and sold them to the school’s faculty and staff.
When discussing what to do with the profits, sophomore, Camryn Conley-Daudt suggested making a donation to help those in need.
Her idea came from her grandfather’s story about a young family who moved next door to him many years ago. It was a first home for the young family, and they did not have extra funds to celebrate Christmas.
Conley-Daudt’s grandfather gave his Christmas funds to the family, and they were able to celebrate the holiday in their new home. Her classmates appreciated the story and agreed to donate the profits to the Shepherd’s House in Georgetown.
Selling over 100 handmade charcuterie boards, the class raised $2,165.00. The funds were donated to the Shepherd’s House on Dec. 23.
