Sussex Planning & Zoning hearings set for Wednesday

Posted

GEORGETOWN — The Sussex County Planning & Zoning Commission will once again look at accessory dwelling unit and perimeter buffer legislation during its regular meeting Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Sussex County Administrative Office Building.

The board is expected to close the public record regarding perimeter buffers, which has been kept open because of concerns raised during a recent public hearing. The legislation defines the boundaries between neighborhoods and encourages tree preservation.

The commission faces several options with the accessory dwelling unit legislation, one of which would be to make recommendations to County Council.

Such a unit is defined as a residence separate from a main house on a parcel. They could be installed without a zoning change or adjustment under the conditions being defined in this ordinance.
