SINGAPORE (AP) — The start of the sprint race at Formula 1's Singapore Grand Prix has been delayed after heavy rain fell.
Marshals were sweeping wet patches on the Singapore street circuit at the scheduled start time of Saturday's sprint race, with Max Verstappen on pole.
It's the second week running that an F1 race has been delayed because of rain. Last week's Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia was first held up by a downpour, then because several cars' software failed to cope with the wet conditions.
The FIA issued a software update and the race, the first in wet conditions this year, went ahead with a delay.
Qualifying is later Saturday for the Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday.
