SEAFORD — George, Miles & Buhr LLC has announced the promotion of Benjamin K. Hearn to an associate at the architectural and engineering design firm.

Mr. Hearn began interning with the company’s Seaford office in 2014 and joined full time upon his 2016 graduation from the University of Delaware, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering.

He was the design engineer on the Gills Neck Road wastewater flow diversion project, which won the 2019 Engineering Excellence Grand Conceptor Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Delaware.

As a project manager in the Seaford and Lewes offices, his focus is on municipal engineering, with experience in asset management, inflow and infiltration analysis, wastewater collection and transmission facilities, water main distribution systems, street improvements and site development.

His main clients include the cities of Seaford and Lewes. He has also served public and private entities around Sussex County and in some parts of Maryland.

Mr. Hearn recently managed the design and construction administration of phase one of the Western Sussex Business Campus, Seaford, with phase two design underway. He is also leading design efforts for an elevated water storage tank and a large water-modeling effort for a canal crossing, both in Lewes.

Additionally, he is involved in his native Seaford community, having served the Seaford Volunteer Fire Department for over a decade, including as vice president from 2017-20.
