GREENWOOD — Delaware Electric Cooperative’s lineworkers won two awards at the 20th annual Gaff-n-Go Lineworker’s Rodeo in Doswell, Virginia.

Over 300 lineworkers from 11 states competed in the May event.

All events in the Rodeo are judged based on safety, skill and time. DEC apprentice lineworker Cole Baker of Millsboro, took second place in the Apprentice Climbing Skills event in which apprentices demonstrate the skills needed to climb, maneuver and work aloft safely.

Apprentice lineworker Jared Campbell of Milford, secured third place in the Apprentice Open Secondary Wire Down event, where competitors pull up a downed conductor and connect a streetlight.

Also competing for DEC in the rodeo events were journeyman lineworkers Dale Breeding of Bridgeville, Harrison Burris of Bridgeville, Ben Gray of Denton, Maryland, and apprentice lineworker Christian Fletcher of Harrington.

“We’re proud of our Rodeo Team and all they have achieved," said Rob Book, DEC president and CEO. “The Gaff-n-Go Rodeo showcases the unique skills that our lineworkers utilize daily in order to keep the lights on, and we are thankful to have such a talented workforce to serve DEC’s members."

The Gaff-n-Go Lineworker’s Rodeo is an annual event that recognizes the skills and expertise of lineworkers from various utilities across the country and is hosted by the Virginia, Maryland and Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives.
