SEAFORD - It’s official.
The groundbreaking for the Nylon Capital Center rehabilitation project is Thursday, April 25, the 9th Street Development Company announced Friday.
The event is slated from 10 a.m. to noon.
Honorable guests include future Nylon Capital Center tenants, Mayor David Genshaw, and Gov. John Carney.
Headed by developer Rob Herrera, the Wilmington-based 9th Street Development Company is spearheading the revitalization of the shopping center, which once was a regional retail hub but for several decades has been mostly dormant and vacant.
Redevelopment plans include adaptive reuse of some existing buildings and new construction on the approximate 22-acre site bordered by West Stein Highway and three other roadways.
Recently, heavy equipment arrived on site, stationed in a fenced-in back portion of the shopping center.
