BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — Texas Tech had to book a special flight to Colorado for reserve quarterback Lloyd Jones III after receiving late word of a decision in an eligibility lawsuit that made backup Thomas Castellanos ineligible Tech's game against the Buffaloes. Jones arrived Friday night — a few hours after the rest of the 12th-ranked Red Raiders. He was listed as the new third-string quarterback, behind Kirk Francis, who took Castellanos’ spot as the backup. The last-minute rush to the airport is the latest bit of chaos to come out of a raft of lawsuits players have filed challenging a new NCAA eligibility rule that gives most athletes five years to play five seasons.

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — John Curry picked off a pass in the end zone for an easy touchdown, one of four interceptions for No. 12 Texas Tech in a 29-7 win over mistake-prone Colorado. A 13 1/2-point road favorite, the Red Raiders (5-0, 2-0 Big 12) outscored the Buffaloes 29-0 after allowing a touchdown on the opening drive. It wasn’t always pretty, but the Red Raiders improved 5-0 for a second straight year. The Buffaloes (2-3, 0-2) had one scoring drive — their first, with new starter Isaac Wilson leading the way — and then it was one miscue, turnover or penalty after another.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — BYU quarterback Bear Bachmeier ran for two touchdowns and the No. 10 Cougars survived without injured running back LJ Martin for a 17-10 victory over TCU on a rainy Saturday night. Bachmeier had a clinching 21-yard TD run with 2:06 left. Martin didn't play after two carries for 16 yards in the first quarter. The Cougars are 4-0, while TCU is 2-3. Both teams had trouble moving the ball, with 72 of the 216 total yards by BYU coming of the late drive. Matthias Bunn kicked a 49-yard field on the Cougars’ first drive after halftime to put them ahead to stay. TCU's Jaden Craig threw for 187 yards with a touchdown and a costly interception.

HOUSTON (AP) — Conner Weigman threw for 239 yards and rushed for three second half touchdowns, and No. 20 Houston rallied to beat Central Florida 27-17. Weigman rushed for 50 yards, Re’Shaun Sanford II ran for 62 yards and Patrick Overmyer caught six passes for 76 yards for Houston (4-1, 1-1 Big 12). Trailing 17-0, Weigman had a 19-yard touchdown run with 3½ minutes left in the third. On the next UCF drive, Latreveon McCutchin intercepted Keyone Jenkins and returned it 17 yards to the UCF 2. Two plays later, Weigman rushed it in from a yard out to cut the lead to three.

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — DJ Lagway threw for 306 yards and four touchdowns to lead Baylor to a 55-19 rout of Arizona State. Lagway also ran for an 11-yard score for the Bears (4-1, 2-0 Big 12 Conference), who have won four in a row. After going three-and-out on its first drive, Baylor scored touchdowns on each of its next three possessions to take a 21-3 lead. Arizona State (2-2, 1-1) was held to one touchdown and four field goals.

AMES, Iowa (AP) — Aiden Flora accounted for five touchdowns, including the go-ahead score with 1:57 left, and Iowa State held off West Virginia 45-42 in a wild game in which the teams combined for over 1,000 yards of offense. Iowa State came from behind twice in the final 7 1/2 minutes and sealed the victory when Beni Ngoyi forced and recovered a fumble with 59 seconds left. Flora ran 22 times for 212 yards, both career highs, and three touchdowns. He also threw for two TDs on halfback passes. Iowa State finished with 577 yards of offense and West Virginia with 518.

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — Deion Sanders wanted to put a spark in Colorado’s struggling offense. For one electric drive to open the game against Texas Tech, giving quarterback Isaac Wilson his first start with the Buffaloes looked like the right move. But there wasn’t much spark after the nine-play, 75-yard touchdown drive the transfer from Utah engineered to start the game. And Wilson’s night might be best remembered for his third interception of the game — a pick-six straight to Texas Tech linebacker John Curry. That was the fatal blow in Colorado’s 29-7 loss to the 12th-ranked Red Raiders. It left Sanders, Wilson and thousands in a crowd that started flowing out of Folsom Field after the interception still searching for answers.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — BYU running back LJ Martin left the No. 10 Cougars’ 17-10 win at TCU after suffering an apparent lower leg injury. Martin came in averaging 109.3 yards rushing per game, but had only two carries for 16 yards in the first quarter Saturday night. Coach Kalani Sitake didn’t provide much of an update afterward on Martin or injured starting linebacker Isaiah Glasker. The coach didn’t elaborate on their specific injuries. Glasker was hurt on Faletau Satuala’s 59-yard interception midway through the second quarter that set up the first of quarterback Bear Bachmeier’s two touchdown runs. Sitake says it was encouraging that both hurt players were standing and moving on the sideline.
