CAMBRIDGE — The Most Reverend Michael B. Curry, who gained international attention and fame when he preached at the wedding of Prince Harry and Megan Markle, will be present with the Episcopal Diocese of Easton on March 3 at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge.

The Episcopal Diocese of Easton refers collectively to the over 40 Episcopal faith communities on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Stretching from the western shore of the Susquehanna River in the north to Crisfield in the south.

“Presiding Bishop Curry will be with us as we wrap up our year-long commemoration and celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the founding of our diocese. The Episcopal Diocese of Easton was founded in 1868, shortly after the conclusion of the Civil War. Since then members of our almost 40 congregations have been faithfully ministering with and to people all along the Eastern Shore of Maryland.”

Presiding Bishop Curry is scheduled to preach and to celebrate the closing Eucharist with about 1,000 people from around the entire diocese. In preparation for this event, the Diocese has conducted a Day of Reconciliation at the recently opened Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historic Park in Church Creek, and a Hope Festival at Camp Wright in Stevensville. Additionally, the congregations took on a “150 Challenge” by performing 150 unique acts of love or service in their local communities.

An outstanding and dynamic preacher, Presiding Bishop Curry gained international attention and fame when he preached at the wedding of Prince Harry and Megan Markle in St. George’s Chapel, Windsor on May 19, 2018. He has also preached at numerous other events including General Conventions of the Episcopal Church. Videos of his preaching can easily be found on YouTube.

Easton Diocesan Bishop, The Right Reverend Santosh K. Marray came most recently from the Diocese of Alabama where he served as their beloved Assisting Bishop. Prior to that he served as the Assisting Bishop in the Diocese of East Carolina. And, prior to that he served as the Diocesan Bishop of the Seychelles.
